School mathematics and university mathematics are often worlds apart. This course covers the gap: algebra, functions, calculus, and financial mathematics—all with an emphasis on application rather than proof for proof's sake. If you're a school leaver lacking formal qualifications, this is your pathway to meeting University of London entrance requirements and succeeding in undergraduate study.
You'll build both conceptual understanding and the mechanical fluency needed to apply these tools in real problems.
About this course
This course introduces some of the basic ideas and methods of mathematics with an emphasis on their application.
It works at an elementary level with the aim of developing sophisticated mathematical skills and bridging the gap between school leavers and undergraduate study.
At the end of the mathematics course, you should be able to:
