It is difficult to paint flowers because it is not just a geometric object, but also a living creation of nature, delicate, transparent.

How to feel the oil? Oil is a capricious material. It smears, takes a long time to dry and smells great too! But there is a way to conquer it even if you have no experience! Try a palette knife.

Firstly, you don’t need to use a solvent, which is one less minus. The consistency of oil paint in a tube is just what you need to paint with a palette knife. Secondly, if you use it correctly, nothing will smudge. Try my short master class and you will understand and feel it!

But it will take a long time to dry! This is what it is. Two to three weeks)))

I made a tutorial on creating a rose with a palette knife in order to understand its geometric shape. I used Van Gogh, and Cobra, you can also choose another firm but the colors usually all firms use the same. For a palette knife you don’t need any solvents and thinners.

Colors:

Titanium white

Ultramarine

Cadmium Yellow/ Azo yellow

Burnt Umber

Olive green/Viridian green

Azo red medium

Palette I usually use this tear-off palette. It’s very useful.

Palette knife.

It has to be a soft one. You can check it if you try it on a canvas, it has to bend. If the canvas bends, it is a hard palette knife, and doesn't match you.

The palette knife  "Fish" is universal and very useful. It has rounded edges. You'll know more in the course about that.
