This class teaches mixed-media illustration through five complete, step-by-step projects: a loose watercolor piece, an ink-first composition, a cactus, a kiwi, wildflowers in a jar, and a teacup. Each demonstrates a different approach to combining ink and watercolor, from loose to controlled.
You'll learn which medium to start with depending on your desired effect, how ink helps make watercolor forgiving (especially for beginners), and techniques that expand what's possible with both. The progression builds confidence; by the final project, you're synthesizing multiple approaches. Additional examples throughout show the range of this mixed-media approach.
This class is for beginner & intermediate artists. Watercolor beginners will benefit the most, because ink really helps to make watercolors approachable. I wanted to show you my favorite techniques and different ways in working with ink & watercolor. The best way to learn is by doing, so join me in 5 step by step illustrations that will level up your illustration skills. We will illustrate:
So, what are you waiting for? Let's make some magic and learn lots of new techniques! :)
