edXEnding violence requires understanding its roots and its cure. This course examines terrorism's causes and legal/strategic counterterrorism responses, then pivots to the harder problem: what happens after fighting stops?
You'll explore disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration (DDR) of ex-combatants, gender and age dimensions of post-conflict recovery often overlooked, and armed versus unarmed civilian protection strategies. The course synthesizes legal, ethical, and practical dimensions, showing why peace is harder to build than conflict is to end.
